Default 5 Years/ 80,000 miles / 55.5mpg

Just filled up the last tank of my 5th (fiscal) year with my Prius....71.7mpg tank. I finished the year at 60.5 MPG and my lifetime MPG is now up to 55.5 MPG.

My official anniversary isn't until Oct. 21st, but I found it easier to use the end of Sept. as the date to do my calculations for annual MPG.

Still going strong and I foresee no reason to replace this car for at least a couple more years.

What do you do, cruise around town all the time?

We have been hovering at 43mpg because we do a lot of highway miles. 11500 since June.

You must be on your 2nd set of tires. Do you still have Integrity?

It looks like you fixed the bumper already.

We always get at most 4.8L/100km (which works out to 49 mpg) and almost all our driving is highway. We do 112kms (69 miles) a day.

We bought the car used in June with 72,500 kms (45,000 miles) on it and have put 10,000kms on it.

My commute to work is right at 15 miles each way and I avoid the highway to take rural roads with speed limits in the 35-45mph range. I hypermile, I use an EBH, and I've been doing this for 5 years and 80k miles so I have a good idea of how to get the most out of my car.

I usually have 1 or 2 highway trips per month (sometimes more than that) and that always pulls mile mileage down a little.

I switched to Michelin HydroEdge tires at around 26K miles. They Hydroedge have been much better tires though I do wonder how my MPG would be with the Integrities.

Nope, got an estimate today (about $600)...that's an older pic.

Wow, that's a lot of driving. 16k miles a year is above average.

Probably, but we plan to take a sabatacal to Australia in 2 years and will sell most of our stuff before then. Also, I don't like keeping cars much beyond 100-120k miles...I just get antsy about breakdowns and to have the latest and greatest.

wow Doc! That's awesome! I just went over 10K miles this week with a 10K avg of 50mpg! Im presently doing about 53.5 mpg. I drive 66 miles per day round trip to work. The majority of it is at 55 mph and about a third of it at 35mph. I owe it all to you and the other members of PC who have helped me save fuel and enjoy it!

My LMPG is lower than I'd like mostly b/c the first year or two I really didn't do much to hypermile or maximize FE. OEM tire pressures, lots of highway driving usually at 10mph over the limit, no EBH in winter, stuff like that. The past 3 years I've pushed 60mpg (exceeded that this year), but it's tough to get the LMPG up when you start in a hole like that.
