Friends: 0 | The new disk is version 4.2. It installs in a CD reader located under the drivers seat. The setting up of destinations is not quite the same with this new NAV as with the previous NAV system. Also, it is not particularly intuitive. Unfortunately Toyota did not provide a set of written instructions explaining how to use the new NAV system. I will call Toyota customer service to see if they can provide a set of instructions for the new NAV system. I have used it extensively for the past two weeks and have found it to be deadly accurate. It has never missed in bringing me directly to any destination I have entered into the map. If you don’t know the best route to get to your destination, you merely program the NAV with an address and city and it will take you to where you want to go. If you take an alternative route which is different that the NAV’s suggestions the NAV will recognize that you have not followed it’s suggested route and will adjust itself to your new chosen route and will bring you to your destination. Friends: 0 | All of my previously set routes were still there after I upgraded to Version 4.2. The only adjustment I had to make was to re-set the Region to "Texas/Oklahoma" (5). Since the NAV DVD is "read only" it would be necessary that your routes and memory points would be resident in your Prius' memory rather than on the DVD. All NAV features seem to work as before and I have noted some updates to POI's (Points of Interest) and new streets and highways. |

Most of the (relevant) v4.2 files seem to be dated 9/2004. The v3.2 files are dated 11/2003. Copyright on my v4.2 disk says 2003, as Rick mentioned earlier in another thread.

Friends: 0 | Although the file date on a given DVD is say 9/2004 the actual map and POI content can be and, often is, much older (9-12mo is not uncommon). |

Friends: 0 | Arizona Charlie, You say, “I have used it extensively for the past two weeks and have found it to be deadly accurate. It has never missed in bringing me directly to any destination I have entered into the map.” Did you find this not to be the case with your “old” DVD? |

Oh yeah! I mentioned that the files on my old version (3.2) were dated 11/2003. Regardless, an entire shopping mall is missing that was built over 3 years earlier.
