My Car: 2006 Prius Model: Package: #4 Thanks: 0
Thanked 2 Times in 2 Posts
Friends: 0 | Pleased to report my 2006 just turned over 200,000. Probably best car I have ever owned. I have changed the oil and filter every 5K, using Quaker State and Pur One filter. Put in a K&N washable air filter at 25K and cleaned it every 25K since, no problems. Change cabin filter every 25K New shocks and struts at 150K, although I am thinking the shocks were ok, the right front strut was leaking. Change the spark plugs every 100K Just now changed the serpentine belt Coolant changes as recommended, only thing I have used the dealer for other than recall work. A few light bulbs have burned out now and then. On my 4th set of tires, now using Continental ecoplus, but they will not last their warranty I believe. Original brake pads, fronts still at 50%. Change out the transaxle fluid every 100K. Only real problem was the right front hub started squealing, and I changed that myself. And the cruise control handle broke when I let my grandson play in the car. Changed it myself. And the usual hatch release switch melted. Changed it myself. I have no idea of overall gas mileage. But much better than the truck I sold to buy my prius! And a big thanks to all the advice I have gleaned from priuschat! |

Friends: 0 | I just hit 200k mark on my 2004 on 11/12/11. I put about 5500 mls a month as a courier and bought it sept 2010 with 121k. Since then my repairs and such as follows. oil changes every 5-6k, synthetic blend (whatever on sale) changed plugs at 125k (myself) $ 50 changed tranaxle fluid 123k (dealer) $169 water pump toyota w/ coolant change 138k (free) dealer free hybred battery 150k, from wrecked '07(67k) w/computer $450 + 200 install $650 waterpump drive belt 152k (firestone) $ 75 frt brakes 155k (shop) $175 Lifetime alignment 160k (firestone) $169 lft tie rod end 165k (shop) $110 brake fluid change 170k (shop) $ 70 rear brakes 170k (toyota brand) (shop) $200 bridgestone ecopia ep422 $495 Total $2,163 This prius was owned buy a busy family and did only needed maintanence and probably late, Oil was run low I'm guessing quite a bit. the engine uses a qt every 2k mls. Engine also makes some valve taping noise. And interior had dog hair and stains everywhere.lol. I did clean the cooling ducts for the hybrid battery after it was changed. Other than these things this car has made me money on fuel savings. And I have put in just as much money on other cars putting that kind of mileage on them. Still getting 43 to 51mpg depending on seasons. Last edited by MtnHighPrius; 01-03-2012 at 10:46 PM. |

Friends: 0 | I am at the Toyota dealer right how. My 2007 Prius has 246,000 miles. This is the most amazing car I have ever owned as far as having the fewest problems and having the best reliability. Over the course of its lifetime, I have done the following: -Replaced the oil every 5k miles -Replaced the rear shocks -Replaced the wheel bearings -I am replacing my spark plugs and transaxle fluid for the second time as we speak -Water pump as per recall That's it. I might have changed the coolant, don't remember. I am actually reviewing this thread right now to see if anything else needs to be done.

Friends: 0 | I just turned 218K, bought it with 95K on it so I cant say what was done before that. I've done the basic stuff, oil changes and tires. Water pump done as per recall. Just did plugs myself although they weren't that bad. Changed coolants at 195K. I'm guessing I should do the belt and transaxle fluid? |
