100 MPG first 5 Mins, bug?

I swapped back to the Kyowa 17" wheels about 3 tanks ago. Yesterday, I left work in the usual route and got 100 MPG for the first 5 minutes! Normally I get 35-40 MPG.

Half a mile from the parking lot is a traffic light. It takes about one minute and then left turn into 55 MPH road.

It must be a bug because I initially had 49.9 MPG average. As I accelerated, it dropped to 49.8 MPG.

Did it happen to anyone else ?

Problem?

Recipe

Start with a warmed-up, Prius, after driving for say 20-30 minutes so engine is warm and battery charged (NOTE: 'forced charge' could be used but I don't endorse this practice.)
Stop car and reset display and wait for 5 minute update
Slowly accelerate in EV to 6 mph and get 100 MPG instant bar
Stop and wait 5 minutes -- a 5 minute bar will fill with 100 MPG space
Repeat 5 more times starting with "Slowly accelerate in EV to 6 mph ..."

Take a photo and enjoy. <GRINS>

Bob,

I didn't even step out for lunch that day as I brought food. Therefore the car was parked for more than 8 hours.

It was a cold start and I normally got 35-40 MPG (also for days I drive for lunch) as mentioned. This time I got 100 MPG which I can not explain and it does not make sense.

This is very unusual because for 99.6k miles I have driven, this is the first time it has happened to me.

Could this be an early indication of a developing 12v battery failure?

Given ~4 year expected service life it would be somewhat early...
Still, a possible maybe.

[EDIT] I know there was a similar thread a few months back but I can't
find it.
