Default inverter pump failure - dodged the bullet

Greetings - This is a follow-up from my experience with an inverter pump failure last week. To recap, the inverter pump failed while I was driving under hot, mountainous conditions in the middle of nowhere. In continued to drive to Nashville [2 hours] but by the time I got to Rivergate Toyota, the car was practically non-functional. A diagnosis revealed the pump failure, it was replaced, checked out and I have now driven it ~ 1000 miles, most of it fast and under Southern Heat conditons. Car works fine...so far.

BTW, Rivergate Toyota was an excellent place to do business...professional and very helpful.

Woo-hoo!

After such an episode it is sometimes also necessary to reflash the firmware of an engine computer. It may be that the dealer did that when replacing the pump, but don't be too upset if you get a warning light. And sometimes they don't get all the air out of the coolant loops, so note the levels on the various coolant tanks yourself and listen for unfamiliar burblings. But fixing those is much less trouble and expense than replacing the inverter, so count your blessings :_>
