Safety recall for carpet mats

Why was the thread closed for the safety recall? This is a Gen 2 forum and a Gen 2 question.

Prius to be affected in recall.

For now Toyota said it is asking owners of specific models to take out any removable driver side floor mats and not to replace them. Models affected include the Camry, Avalon, Prius, Tacoma and tundra.

This after fatal crash in Californta last month. A Highway Patrol officer and three others were killed when the accelerator pedal stuck on the floor mat.

Does not affect Gen III Prius at this point.
