Friends: 0 | The Prius has some special considerations for emergecy crews (esp due to high voltage). Are there instructions anywhere geared towards this? Like: high voltage wiring is marked with orange insulation. before using the jaws of life... I found this: http://www.firehouse.com/extrication/archi...001/july01.html But that is old and doesn't cover the 04 Prius My sister is a Firefighter and I don't want her electocuted. Also, I think she is the training person, so this could be a good topic. Brian |

Friends: 0 | Take this one straight to Toyota. Rather than going to the Consumer-Oreiented 800 number, I'd go to Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. in Torrance CA and try to reach this chap: John Hanson, National Manager, Product Communications 310 468 4718. John may not be the exact contact on matters pertaining to crash entry techniques, but his office can steer you towards the Toyota Subject Matter Expert on that topic. Be very clear on the reason for the call; be sure they understand that you are calling on behalf of the Training Manager for a Fire Department , etc. who wants to insure Safe Practices when dealing with a Prius in an Occupant Extraction situation. Be sure to let us all know how your phone call goes and include the contact info; there are a lot of fire and rescue workers out there who really need this information! Bob

Friends: 4 | There are Emergency responder instructions at: http://techinfo.toyota.com/ Scroll down to :Valuable Resources Click on EMERGENCY RESPONDER INFORMATION which should take you to this webpage: http://techinfo.toyota.com/public/main/erg.html Then click on : '04 (SECOND GENERATION) PRIUS Which gives you a pdf on what to do. Friends: 4 | By the way this document would also be a good quick reference guide for all of the rest of us- about how to get it towed, how to enter, etc. Very comprehensive, 26 page pdf. |

Friends: 4 | You are welcome! Now if only the manual were available back on this site- pending Toyota approval, I would be happier. Grin. |
