Default So glad i found you!!!

Hello everyone,

I have recently purchased an 06 t-spirit, too early to give an honest opinion as it has only been 4 days since i have had the car. I want to thank fellow members of this site for the useful information in regards to programming a new key fob.

I was quoted by Toyota UK £120 + 15% vat for the fob and £55 + vat for the programming.

Bought a used key fob on Ebay and found the guide posted on this site to re-program the fob.

Took only a couple of minutes to program the fob.
I know many have asked, but i shall ask again is there any way to cancel the reverse beep in a UK car?

Thank you all.

Hey there, sk2275! Congrats on the new Prius and welcome to PriusChat!!

I would think that the UK Prius is probably much the same as the Dutch and possibly Irish versions so I'm going to let one of those guys work with you on that. While you're waiting, have you tried the method we use here in the States? There's always a chance it might work.

Sounds like you've already done some reading but surely you've only scratched the surface. Get comfy, there's a ton of stuff here.

The T-Spirit model is not availble in the US. Perhaps sk2275 can tell us what amenities it has. I'm sure Tideland Prius can make the comparisons for us. I'm not sure exactly how he knows all the different models from all the geographies but he does.

Some people are just smarter than the rest of us. Either that or they google faster.

I'm not aware of any difference in this from country to country so here it is for the US and Canadian models from John's site (john1706a.com) iconic manual (download it, it's really good):

1. Switch the odometer/trip value to display "ODO" by pushing the “ODO TRIP” button
as many times as required. If the speedometer-cluster was already showing “ODO”, be sure to cycle thru each option back to “ODO” again.

2. Power OFF (push the "Power" button).

3. Power ON (push the "Power" button again).

4. Within 6 seconds of powering back ON, push & hold the button for “ODO” for a
minimum of 10 seconds.

5. While still holding the button for "ODO", shift into "R" (Reverse), then to "P" (Park).

6. "b-on" should display on the odometer/trip-meter now. Push the "ODO TRIP" button to switch the mode to "b-oFF".

7. Power OFF (push the "Power" button). That’s it! The beep should now be disabled.

Note #1: If the sequence above failed, it may be due to the "ODO" setting not having been visible recently. In that case, all you have to do is drive with it that way for a few miles. The next time you try to disable the beeper, the process should work.

Note #2: If you ever disconnect the 12-volt auxiliary battery from the system (or drain it dead), you may have to repeat the disable process again.

I modified the instructions a bit as I didn't bring the images over. Download the owners manual from the above site for a nicer version.

I don't get to thank John too often, so thanks John again!

My understanding is that the steps given for the North America models don't work on a UK car, though I haven't actually tried it out myself. As I recall, there is no known way to disable the reversing beeper.

There's a Standard and Optional Equipment thread for 2G which says:

- 4-wheel disc brakes
- 16" alloys on P195/55R16 tyres
- ABS /EBD
- Brake Assist
- TRAC
- VSC+
- Front/Rear Electric Windows
- Central Locking
- Electrically-Controlled Automatic Climate Control
- Electric Mirrors
- AM/FM/CD 6-speaker system
- Rear Foglight
- Height adjustable driver seat
- EV Drive Mode button
- Cruise Control
- Front Foglights
- JBL audio AM/FM/6-CD/MP3/WMA w/ 9 speakers
- Voice-Activation
- Auxiliary Input Jack
- Voice-Activated DVD-Based Satellite Navigation with Pan European Maps
- Intelligent Park Assist (IPA) *
- Rear View Monitor
- Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity

* IPA was an option from January to December 2006, becoming standard in December 2006.

I have tried holding the ODO etc to disable the reverse beep, but i believe this does not seem to work on the UK/European versions. I have been to Jemca Edgware road to ask if they could cancel it by connecting up their diagnostic system, they replied they have not heard/or know for a fact that this cant be done. So looks like i will have to find a friendly dealer who will sort this out for me. Any help on which dealers i may approach? (London area)

Congrats and welcome to PriusChat!!

Unfortunately, we haven't found a work around for the European versions.

Do browse the Knowledge Base section for lots of information!

Thanks! I've updated the thread to include it.

Research? Memory? like how Italy doesn't get cruise control and the UK doesn't get the smart key.

They're on PC somewhere. I figured it's easier to remember than to search PC for it.

hyo, it's easier to remember than google
