Default Priuses, Priuses everywhere...(aka Prius Sightings)

On my morning commute today, about 10 miles total, I saw three other '04 Priuses.

On the freeway on-ramp, I was two cars behind a Salsa Red.

Within a mile of getting on the freeway I merged onto the 134 freeway and saw a white '04 merging onto the 101 freeway.

While heading south on the US5 I was side-by-side with a black '04 with Occidental College stickers on the window. We both waved and honked at each other.

Any of these sightings of people on the board?

Somebody that works in my building bought a black 04. I used to see a green "classic" on the second floor parking garage, but haven't seen it in several months. Then there are my co-workers and my white "classics."

I had a similar type of experience to yours last week, only with the classics. I saw 5 of them all within a 10 block radius. Kind of a trip of you ask me. Typically I'll go days at a time without seeing another Prius, regardless of model year.

I have yet to see even one 2004 on the road and have only seen one Classic. It surely isn't for a lack of looking. Maybe my area is simply Prius deprived.

I've started to see a few other '04s since getting my own in November. Previously, stuck in traffic in Northern Virginia, I would count the hybrids zipping by me in the HOV lane (single-drivers ok if hybrids) ... dozens of classics, civics and even a few insights.

Can't wait until I get my special fuel license plates so I can zip with them ... any day now!

What I'm wondering is ... is there (or should there be) some special gretting when Prius owners pass each other? A "v" sign ... for voltage? :-)

Just wondering.

I see them all the time now.

There's a salsa pearl one and a silver one that park in my garage at work (Hollywood, CA). And there's also a silver classic there, too.

There's a seaside that seems to live in my neighborhood (Silverlake) and another silver that I've seen a few times parked down the street from me.

I saw a black one on Melrose in Hollywood yesterday on my way to work.

I was even taking someone out to test drive my Subaru for sale and we passed a silver.

A day doesn't go by when I don't see one. (I know they're not all the same silver one - they have different dealer plates on them.)

I feel like I'm so behind the times! I know it's petty, but I want to feel like I'm ahead of the curve! Not following the trend!

My only consolation is that I still haven't seen a tideland in the wild yet.

Come to South Carolina - I think I've only seen one Prius here before - one of the older ones.

You California people get all the cool stuff first - first the Scion, now the Prius!!

I've not seen any other '04s here in SW Missouri. I know that there are several out there (my dealership sold 9 of the pioneer vehicles), but not on the same streets I drive. One of the other docs at work has a classic--it's fun to park next to him--he's also got an '04 on order. At least one other doc in town has an '04 on order too. I've also seen one other gold colored Prius from time to time. Saw a black one once and a white one once.

I haven't seen one yet, but this area is not very 'Prius friendly'...if it's not a big Dodge Ram or Buick Park Ave. then it's not a desirable car. Some areas are quick to embrace new technology, some are slower, and some, like Erie, never get the picture. What a shame.

I've seen one other 04 Prius. One so much like mine it might have been a mirror, except they had the dealer name on the back.

I've seen no 04's and only 1 classic. You'd think there would be more around here in what touts itself to be a progressive community in the near west burbs of Chicago.

BC silver in waiting and waiting and waiting . . . 56 days since order placed.
