Well, I can't find my original thread/poll on this subject. Maybe an admin can dig it up and join this thread to it.

Anyway, here are pics of my black Prius with custom painted gloss black OEM "snow" wheels. The tires are Bridgestone Blizzak Revo-1:

They look fabulous, but how well is the paint going to hold up? Don't they use lava rocks on the roads in the winter up there too?

Psst... you need to use tyre shine otherwise, they're not as bad as I thought they'd be!

i did the same thing to my black prius 18 months ago, or so, but i didn't paint them, i had them powder coated as well as finding black lug nuts. i've submitted pix here somewhere on the site.
they're holding up perfectly, i chose flat, not gloss, for no particular reason.
the cost was $200 in san diego

We posted back and forth on that (your pics are what made me decide to go ahead). Somehow that thread is gone though

As far as the durability, I dono. I'll have to see what they look like this spring.

Tire shine for sure.. looks pretty killer I recommend More Shine Less time by Stoner products.. i just learned they now sell at normal stores.. the shine stays on for a good two weeks. my favorite product for my car.. tires can be dirty when you use it too

Get some Meguiar's INSANE shine. That will make the tires as shiney as the car.

I agree about the lugnuts. Totally black the car out. Too bad you can't paint the brake drums black too.

I think I would to the logo as well, so I didn't have a shiney chrome dot in the middle of my blacked out wheels.

Thanks for the picture. I was thinking of doing this. Not sure if I want to do the original wheels or buy new ones. I'm putting off decision until I replace the tires.

Did you consider leaving the trim rings silver? I was thinking of blacking out the spokes, but leaving the rings silver on my White '06. Anybody done this?
