Friends: 0 | I would like to use the Ultimate Lockpick 3 w/address entry option. When I look at the install photos PC posters put up here, I am totally intimidated. Lockpick's website states it is "easy to install" without taking apart the car, but that is not what I'm seeing from users who post here. Question for whoever has actually installed this item: Can a 5-thumbed owner install this device and how much dis-re-assembly of the dash is required? A photo journal of the complete installation would be oh-so very helpful if anyone is starting the job soon. Thanks-

Friends: 13 | Maybe it's easier for other people somehow and I've been repairing vehicles since the 70's but I had the hardest time simply pulling the dash panels out, especially the lower center humped shaped one. After finding .pdf instructions from Eddie Bell which shows approximately where the clips are, it was a tad easier, but only a tad. https://www.metrotpn.com/documents/P...XMradio3.2.pdf I scratched one panel up, made nicks in others and and almost ripped one apart. I swear they built it with glue. To get the Lockpick in, I had to remove the monitor completely, the entire radio assembly and a bunch of panels and vents. Snapping all back together is a breeze though. While the monitor was out I disassembled it to install the monitor screen plastic shield (a different kit), whose instructions said to simply insert the edges between the cracks - yeah right. If I was you, I'd pay someone to do it for you. ZC1 |

Here's the deal on the extra cables you have. 1. The white leftover plug is simply an extension of the empty plug on the back of the monitor/or radio (I forgot which). You have it remaining so you can plug other Toyota or 3rd party equipment to it. Think of it as an extension cord. 2. The yellow cable is for composite video, allowing you to plug into some DVD player. 3. The red cable is for the right channel of an audio source coming out of some DVD player. 4. The white cable is for the left channel of an audio source coming out of some DVD player. A DVD player is not the only piece of equipment that can be connected into these cable ends. I agree, the CoastalTech website had me believing I could simply insert a DVD into my changer or DVD Nav unit and get a picture. Not. ZC1 | |

Friends: 0 | lol I would try installing this one, but I dont trust myself in the install... I'm stretching it by installing the Sirius stuff on my own. Lol Where could I have it installed and know it is in good hands... I'm in WV, but I frequently drive to Florida. |

Friends: 0 | Has anyone installed the Ultimate Lockpick 3+ on a 2008 Package 2? I've tried it but it did not work. Spoke with Kelly, who said it should work and will send me another lockpick 3. |

Friends: 0 | Well, I just finished my installation of the Ultimate Lock Pick 3+. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Palmetto, if your still looking, give it a whirl. You'll be able to get it done. The instructions Coastal supplied are really quite good. I scratched the first panel I tried to take off a little, but once you get going everything pretty much falls into place. Re-assembly is a breeze. All functions work as advertised, although i have not tried the audio/video yet. I have a 2008 package 6 with the cover over the tray. I drilled a 5/8 hole in the back of the tray and fed the A/V wires through there. It makes for a very clean install and no dangling wires. I can dial the phone (that's the dumbest thing I've ever seen, what would you do if you had to dial the police and could not stop because of present danger) and input destination addresses. Inputing addresses is a bit distracting. Use extreme caution. Good luck everyone. |

Friends: 1 | "what would you do if you had to dial the police and could not stop because of present danger" I thought you could dial emergency numbers regardless. Is that not the case (not that I will care after I get my LP3+ installed)? |

Friends: 0 | I installed the Lockpick 3+ on my 2008 Option 6 Prius and I noticed a couple of frustrating things. 1. The MFD always seems to think the vehicle is NOT moving (no way to change that) 1a. The Consumption screen will not update 1b. The concept of pressing on the "Pin" icon to enter an address does NOT work. 2. The Nav Map screen is VERY slow to update if at all. 3. The folks at Coastaletech NEVER return email or phone questions. Has anyone else experienced any of these issues? If I am doing something wrong (other than the act of adding a hack to my brand new Prius), please let me know. Thanks Steve |
