Friends: 1 | This is interesting, and before I do anything (I have the LP3+ sitting in my office waiting), I want to know what the culprit is, or what the differences are between yours and those that are reported to work correctly in all respects. It would seem that the "NOT moving" issue and the consumption screen issue should be related (speed wire broken or not seated - if it is part of Coastal's mod), although after thinking about this, the consumption screen changes when I am just sitting there with everything on (for an extended period), moving or not. I can't imagine why the map screen would be slow to update (how could it if you weren't moving?). Tom Quote:

If anyone is considering buying from CT - DO! They make great products. If anyone is considering e-mailing CT and receiving a reply - DON'T! They just don't e-mail. The trick is, during business hours, call their toll number(not the toll free). You will get them every time. I have! .

The gps will correct itself, but that's the slow updating you're noticing. Last edited by chrisspaulding; 06-18-2008 at 11:55 PM.

Friends: 0 | My understanding of the mod is that you have the ability to control when the mod "tricks" the speed sensor by pressing the "Pin" at the top of the destination screen in the NAV menu. This then somehow flips a switch which lets you enter an address and once the address is complete the switch is flipped back. I am not seeing this behavior, there is no response when I press the "pin" on the top of the NAV screen, and it looks like the mod is always active and therefore not allowing the real Speed Sensor data through to the MFD. As for calling Coastal during business hours.. I have tried and each time I get an answering service, they are more than happy to take an order, but when I ask for tech support she tells me that she is only the answering service and also that I am not the only one calling who is upset at the lack of response. I agree with your statement that the products are great, I just think the LP3+ was rushed out the door without enough testing on the 2008 model. If they would simply get back to me and either tell me how to fix the issue, or let me return it for another one that works I would have absolutely no complaint. |

Friends: 0 | Sorry to reply with a question, but after reading thread after thread, I am still confused! ![]() I am awaiting delivery of my Prius, but have purchased the Vais SL2VI. I have a Vais in my current car and live literally "just up the street" from them. They are awesome to deal with. My question is regarding the lockpick 3. I would love to be able to get rid of all the legal stuff (I agree, no entry while driving, etc.) and I understand that this is possible to have in addition to the SL2VI. But which Lockpick do I need to do that? I do not need to have any connectivity to the head unit for Ipods, etc. as I will do that with the Vais unit. Anybody can give me a definitive answer? I would love to order the unit now, so I can do one install (taking dash apart) when the car arrives...Would love to hear back!. Also, anybody has links to the best instructions on taking the dash apart and installing both units? Thank you! |

Friends: 0 | Hi guys, this is my first post in 2+ years I have been able to learn from you all, now I want to share what I learned to help the next guy. I recently installed a Vais SoundLinQ2 SL2Vi in my 2005 Prius and liked it a lot but wanted to be able to use the video ipod while moving. Yes, I know but I still wanted it. I researched it and found a few hacks that probably would work if I was smart enough, or had the guts to cut wires and something to do with a speed sensor? Anyway, it's just to over my head to figure out but I took a chance and delt with Coastaltech and bought a Ultimate 3 to see how it works with my Vais. After the install today I want to share that it works. I didn't use any of the RCA jacks but just the chip behind the Nav screen and it unlocks the ipod video in motion and no parking brake issue. I have to still learn the proper sequence of what button to push, but I'm getting the hang of it. Amazing how clear the Nav screen is, I watched Hellboy in bumper to bumper traffic tonight. Yes I know, still wanted it. Anyway, dealing with Coastaltech is not a pleasure but if you have patience and don't count on it tomorrow or the next week 5 calls later, and when it shows up you move on. I now have a left over basic lock pick that I used since I bought the car. By the way with the new CA law, the BT screen dialing while in motion is well worth it. Good Luck guys, and thanks for all you have given me. I will be reading from the side lines. Robert |

Friends: 0 | I installed Lockpick 3+ a month ago, easily done as instructions indicate. Initially all worked as advertised, but lately the consumption screen is not refreshing. One trip approx 3hrs driving, cosumption was working then stopped. Some days it worked, some it did not. Past two days - no consumption. However - MPG does update properly. I was going to try a few series of tests this weekend. One was to initiate the NAV PIN. It is ON all the time or not. Also, Is there a switch to turn phone dial while driving on/off. It does appear that something is stuck on. Is there a fuse to power cycle the NAV system? I'll post what I find. ps: have not noticed NAV delay in updating. Thx Lloyd Quote:

Friends: 0 | re: Issues with Consumption graph and NAV delay updating. #1 - Consumption chart not updating while driving. #2 - check NAV screen - you should be required to press the PIN to obtain access to NAV icons while moving. When I checked I was NOT require to press PIN. #3 - NAV location while driving seems slow to update actual position while driving. If you have these symptons, there is a problem with the LockPick 3+ The simple solution thus far is to disconnect the ribbon cable from the NAV DVD system under the drivers seat for a moment or two. Then reconnect. I also attempted to remove and re-seat the 3 remaining wires, but I can't confirm if I was successful for all three. The Consumption is now tracking properly again. I AM required to press the PIN to obtain access to the NAV screen while moving and the NAV locator position on the map appears to keep pace with my driving progress. I am still going to bring this to the attention of Coastal so that IF I have future issues they will be aware that my issue started now. |

Friends: 0 | I purchased a $6 RCA 3.5mm video cable and attempted to have a movie display on screen. no go if you connect the obvious way. If however you use the variation noted below, it works. The Lockpick 3+ does provide a link for the Video IPod to play movies to the screen via the headphone jack of the IPod. Plug the red RCA plug into your TV's yellow RCA jack. Plug the yellow RCA plug into your TV's white RCA jack. Plug the white RCA plug into your TV's red RCA jack. You also need to set your "TV out" setting, (under Video) to YES. This will send the signal out rather than displaying on the iPod screen thanks to all who provided the individual parts of the instructions. Quote:
