disabling key in, door open beep

i saw the other post and didn't get an answer. i just want to open the door, and get my stuff without taking the key out first. any info would be helpful

This thread makes no sense at all. Perhaps the OP can provide a bit more information so we have something to work with:

1) Is your car a Prius?

2) Does it have the Smart Key System (SKS)?

3) What key do you mean?

Shot in the dark here, but let me translate.

When you stop the Prius without the smart key system, and leave the key fob in the hole, it makes a repetitive annoying beep sound when you leave it in the slot while the driver's side door is open and the car is off.

My guess is he wants to be able to leave the key in without the beep for some reason. He wants to turn off the beep.

Every car I've ever owned beep if you open the driver door and the key is in the ignition... Some cars had a very agressive buzz, some had a gentle ding dong. It's a reminder as to not forget it.

Sounds like the OP should have gotten the SKS.

I personally haven't found it that annoying in the Prius. I have SKS and only put the key in the ignition when I'm heading to the car wash. If I remember correctly it's just a single second long beep or so...at least in my '08.... of course this doesn't answer the question. sorry.
