how do I remove the front chrome smile

I'd like to remove it for DIY mod to black.

I know there are inserts that adhere over the Prii chrome smile. I don't want to do that.

Can the Prii chrome smile be removed and HOW?

*edit* I'm not referring to the emblems. I mean the long chrome piece in the front grill, sometimes called the smile

Is it completely painted underneath? No holes? So once it's removed and cleaned up, it looks like rest of car?

Thanks, but I should have been more specific.

Chrome smile = front chrome grill piece.
looks like a big smile or boomerang - not the emblems(I already have those blacked out).

How do I remove that?

I think it snaps together. Maybe remove the top radiator core support grille cover and look down at it>. Or some one could just cover the hole up and call it the

blocker.

And FYI: The Toyota Hood Emblem does have guide hole in the sheet metal underneath. The rear emblems can be removed without painting/bodywork, but not the hood.

Those are good points on the emblems, but this thread is NOT about emblems! It's about the BIG chrome piece -AKA smile- in the front GRILL.
