Default ScanGauge II Questions

I installed the ScanGauge II today. My questions what do you folks find the most helpful to set the gauges to. I know I want water temp of engine but don't know what to use for the other settings. I am interested in getting even better mpg. Will be putting the grill blocking on shortly, which is why I wanted the water temp.

Thanking you all in advance for the advice.

I keep the water temp on at all times now that I am blocking my grill. Some of the other ones I use are:

1. CFE(current fuel economy) this one is good because you can reset it and it also resets on its own each day. On my way to and from work I like to try different things and this allows me to see if it is helping or not without losing my MFD MPG..

2. RPM allows you to DWL up hills and also during your glides you can make sure your RPM's are at 0.

3. MPG I really like seeing my MPG go way over 99.9 MPG...

4. EV (lets you know if your EV is off/on)

Some of those are X-gauges so you will need to program them into your scangauge..

Take a look at this thread and those that are linked from it. They should give you lots of ideas to get started and, just as importantly, to fully understand how best to interpret the readings and exploit the car's capabilities for maximum fuel economy.

New Scan Gauge II today.....yeppie!

So I must jack this thread instead of starting a new one, yes I searched, but couldn't find this.

Is there a way to have the Scan Gauge II stay on?
During the 30 mile trip to work today I had to turn it back on about 60 times. :-(
Don't we want this on so we can see it?
Am I missing the intent?
Do we "Only" look @ it when we think something is wrong or needs monitoring?

I feel so newbish.....

You have to set it to "hybrid" engine type and it will be on while the car is on, and turn off automatically when you turn the car off.

Once again, read more and post less.
And all this time, (3 months), I thought I had a "gas" engine type.
But then I didn't scroll through the gauge far enough to actually "SEE" the Hybrid choice.

Thanks maseace.

Trying to stay on topic and NOT start new threads......more SG II ?'s

I was successful in adding two XGauges hope that's the terminology.
The one I was most interested in is the "SOC", state of charge.
I didn't see any adjustments or %'s to input, and while doing a short drive tonight, the "SOC" went from 54.5 to a high of 60.0.
Looking @ the "MFD" it shows a higher level than this!?
Assumeing the half way break is 50% and I had two (2) additional bars showing.
Wouldn't this be 70% "SOC"?

I've searched and now I have a headache....
Hoping for a guru to show me the light.

The charge level on the car's MFD display is not 0-100%, it's more like 40-80%. The hybrid battery is kept within a specific SOC range to extend it's useful life.

Full explanation here: http://privatenrg.com/#Full_SOC
