Friends: 6 | I've just started my Mac Prius project which I hope to integrate into the PHEV project (which will get done very soon... I'm looking at the school half term in three weeks' time). Today as the weather was pretty nippy I got inside Velma and fired up my Mac Mini and scan-converter. I managed to get an image on the MFD! However, there's a lot of flickr and the screen isn't all that readable. I'm going to work on getting a better resolution and I need to make a new screened cable to try and deal with the interference I got today. I've taken a very rough video of the success today, which is below. If anyone has any ideas about the flickering I'd love to hear them! Nikki.

Friends: 0 | Hey, that's great. It's a shame that so far you've not been able to get the tactile screen to work with the Mac - I guess that this would be a bit difficult.... As for the flickering other than the screened cable that you've already mentioned I'd suggest playing with the screen resolution and refresh rate setting on the Mac. Great project and can't wait to see how you finally get it working - looks like something I wouldn't mind doing..... Oh and I'm sure that if you set it up permanently you'll find that the wireless mouse and keyboard help a bit |

Friends: 6 | Yup - I have a keyboard and mouse waiting! I've got a long way to go before it's permanantly installed in the car! I need to do some work on getting the resolution improved to a higher level - I think that may depend on me getting some time to play with the settings over the next week or two. The interference on the cables is something I can sort though - I made the cable up a few weeks ago when I tried to get the screen to work without a scan cable. Nikki. |

Friends: 0 | Awesome - looking forward to following this build. Which car are you doing this in - the 2004 or the 2007? According to the CAN-view website, the V3+ for the 2004 integrates with the factory screen, but the V4+ for the 2007/2008 (like mine) actually requires a second 7" LCD. I think it would be a LOT of fun to do this in my 2008, but only if I can integrate into the factory LCD... I am new to this idea, so if these are really basic questions I apologize. thanks! chris |

Friends: 1 | increase the refresh rate of the mac? from 60 hz to 120 hz or until the display blanks out and maybe dies? not sure about this post. it applies to older crts i think Last edited by rigormortis; 01-25-2009 at 03:52 PM. |
