I have stongly been considering the skid plate as protection. Do you make an improved spring without losing ground clearance? It simply is not acceptable in my environment. Sounds like the easiest way to improve my suspension.
An advantage of progressive springs over the stock linear springs is that the progressive springs will progressively resist bottoming out whereas the stock springs don't, and so stock springs can allow the car to get very low. The handling is vastly improved, way less tipping, much better control around curves, turns. I added Air Lift air bags that fit inside the coil springs. The air bags can be used to lift the car an inch or more by more inflation. Also the front and rear air bags can be inflated separately, so the rear bags can be inflated further, for leveling the car with a load, for example, and also allows greater load carrying capacity. The air bags are FAR superior to any "air shocks".
Just measure the diameter of the coil spring, front and rear, and Air Lift can supply the appropriate air bags as they are not listed specifically for the Prius. They also offer a compressor which allows inflating while driving, etc. With air bags on any springs, stock or progressive, bottoming out is prevented by the progressive resistance to the loading that air provides. And they are very inexpensive, work great! The combination of compressive springs and Air Lift air bags makes a huge difference, more improvement than a stiffer anti-sway bar. Anti-sway bars can have a negative effect on steering.

Progressive springs generally have a quicker rate than stock, so replacing stock shocks with fast acting gas shocks are highly recommended! Altogether, they make the Prius handle far better with negligible detractions of ride. In fact, progressive springs tend to have a smoother ride when not pressed and will provide a lot more control, preventing lurching, etc, increasing confidence, when the road gets rough, and greatly reduces tilt/tipping, a great benefit.

will provide further resistance to scraping, especially since air bags can be inflated to compensate, and can provide lift to the car. Since the spring rate is increased, a fast responding gas shock/strut should also be purchased, manufacturer can be buyer's choice as long as it is fast responding. Eibach can advise, 800-507-2338
PRO-KIT (PERFORMANCE LOWERING SPRINGS) 1.4 in 1.0 in Number: 8298.140
PRO-ALIGNMENT KIT Rear +/- 1.5 deg. of camber & toe adjustments. Number 5.75800K
PRO-ALIGNMENT KIT Front +/- 1.75 degrees of adjustment. Number 5.81270K
The lower ride height does improve economy due to less drag, also the lower center of gravity adds to the handling improvement.
When I bought Eibach springs for my van, I also installed inexpensive but high quality Air Lift air bags that fit inside the coil springs, eliminated bottoming out, ride improved, was able to raise and lower front/rear, such as adjusting for loads so that headlights aim correctly.
I believe the Eibach springs will work on both the basic and touring Prius models, but check with Eibach for any questions.

I called Eibach today, the springs do work on 04-09 basic and touring Prius' and the alignment kits are necessary for any springs that lower the car as there are no adjustments on stock Prius'. The alignment kits allow adjustment, which is a bonus for cars like the Prius where otherwise you can't align the car period!
