Friends: 0 | I searched around and didn't find anything here on this topic. I am so addicted to using the key fob and having my Prius automatically unlock when I touch the door handle without having to take out my keys. I have had my car for a couple of years and I still get excited about how well that works. As a long distance runner training for a marathon I frequently take the key fob off of my key ring (by separating it from the metal key portion of the fob) and tuck it into a pouch or put it in my pocket while running. I have started to think that it would be cool to take apart my spare key fob and see if I can embed/attach the smallest possible portion of the key fob into my running shoes somehow. As a matter of fact, I wish that all of my shoes had a little Prius pod in them like the Nike+ thing so that I could just leave my house key in my car and never even worry about taking my keys with me. Everytime I put on my shoes I would have my Prius key! Does anyone know if this is something that someone else is already working on? I saw that Toyota is making an iPhone app. I would love it if my iPhone worked as a key fob too via bluetooth or something. |

Friends: 9 | Will the sensor pick up the presence of the key near the ground (I'm asking because I seriously don't know)? |

Friends: 0 | I was also thinking it would be cool if Toyota made a key fob watch for runners. I know it will never happen, but it would be perfect if they did. |

Friends: 0 | I think the continuous pounding from running and wallking would quickly do in the fob electronics, not to mention accidentally stepping in a puddle. I too have thought about a wearable fob, but more like a belt accessory. Quote:

Friends: 0 | There have been previous discussions of using embedded RFID like the microchips used on dogs for identification, but that would require the installation of a whole new system that would detect the RFID and react like a fob. There has also been a previous discussion on a wrist watch for some models of Toyota/Lexus that could be programmed as a fob to the car. Not sure if it is compatible with the Prius. Prius wristwatch?
