Default Does Mileage Maxx work?

My wife and I went to get our car serviced today and were pressured by a salesman to purchase a product called Mileage Maxx Mileage Booster. He told us that it would clean out our engine and increase our gas mileage by quite a bit. It wasn't too expensive, so if it actually works, it would be worth the purchase. Can anyone tell me if they have actually used this product?

I can't do better than to point you to an engine designer's website on fuel saving gadgets and additives:

I didn't check Mike's link, but I bet I know what it says.

Ask the salesman to produce independent (i.e., not done by the manufacturer or others with a vested interest), scientific studies, preferably published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, that support his claim. I bet he can't.

i was given this fuel treatment thing too.... it was like 5 tubes in a box... same system as Mileage Maxx... you add to the gas tank when you are filling up... it had some patents with regards to the science behind it.... BUT if common sense prevails, i don' t think it's that MIRACULOUS as it's marketed to be..... so to quote a wise man... ".....SNAKEOIL!"......... So.... Am i wrong?..???

Check out this website MaxxGreenFuels.com and read the Testimonials and FAQ's.
You will see the Wisconsin DOT uses it and shows the results with many other major corporations. Just follow the directions.
You be the judge I use it in a Chevy Impala 2007 it has 75000 you can tell a big difference in performance and a great increase in gas mileage.

There have been numerious tests done to prove that fuel additives do NOT WORK. A UK show called 5th Gear tested some and said they made the car worst. Import Tuner Magazine said the same. A local news channel here in Seattle, WA had the same findings. If this stuff really does work then we wouldn't be driving Prius' now would we?

As for Mr MaxxGrennFuels, nice advertising pitch. The trucks used were not Gas but Low Sulfur Diesel. Show us something more relevant to the gas powered car community.

That doesn't sound too safe. Acetone is very bad to plastics and rubber.

The "kidney, liver, and nerve damage" part isn't so great either. I suppose it's better than toluene, right?
