Friends: 0 | I contacted Toyota directly (via email) to find out what the screen resolution is on the new MFD (2006-7). Below is their answer. So my question is this: Why is this classified information? It's just a LCD screen, for crying out loud...Dell, Toshiba, and HP love to publish the resolution of their screens, why not Toyota? Second question: Has someone who has taken their dash apart looked at the back of the MFD to find out who manufactured it and what the model number is? We might be able to get a answer that way. Toyota's response: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Recently you contacted Toyota. Below is a summary of your contact message and our response. Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. Toyota Customer Experience Customer (Vince Dee) 10/02/2006 01:18 PM I've tried to find this information everywhere on the Internet and it just doesn't seem to be available, so I'm asking you. What is the screen resolution on the Multi-Function Display (MFD) in the 2007 Prius? (example is like 400x240 or 640x480) Thanks |

Friends: 23 | If you're willing to do the work, perhaps you can make a 1"x1" box in a sheet of paper. Lay it over the display and count the number of pixels in both directions. That will give you the pixel/square-inch count in both directions. Then measure the width and height of the screen and multiply accordingly. You might not be perfect, but if you suspect it's one of the two options you provide, then whichever one you're closest to would be the correct one. |

Friends: 0 | The screen on the 2006 Prius is 6" wide by 3 5/8" high. Anyone have an Idea what the screen resolution for this might be? |

Friends: 23 | Do you happen to have the 2010 as a comparison? Maybe that'll quell the argument of resolution. |

Friends: 8 | I can comment for the JP 2010 Prius only. JP 2010 NAV: 400X234 pixels on standard model JP 2010 NAV: 800X480 pixels on the high grade NAV option, only for the G Touring Selection Leather package. Ken@Japan |

Friends: 0 | My T3 has the 400x234 screen despite being built in 2007. I believe the MP3-capable CD player requires the 800x480 screen (or rather, some functions of the better MFD are required to control the MP3 functions). Or, possibly, the T4 (of the same age, with the MP3 feature) has the higher-resolution screen as an undocumented upgrade. |

Ok... but the High Grade is probably the HDD version, right? I'm sure our nav isn't the 400x234 screen because the icons look pretty sharp. It's just the map that looks a bit soft compared to the 06-09 Prius nav. Hmm.... We'll need to investigate further. I will be disappointed if our screen was 400x234.

Friends: 2 | My car has the backup camera, so that confirms why I measured 800 x 480. I like the camera by the way, it makes up for the poor rearward visibility |
