Friends: 7 | I read in Click 'n Clack's newspaper column yesterday about a Passat driver who drove through a not-very-deep puddle and the air intake valve at the bottom of the car sucked in water which destroyed the engine. Tom and Ray said nowadays a lot of cars have the air intake valve (which used to normally be on the hood but moved to make 'sleeker hood lines') absurdly low so the above problem isn't uncommon. Which begs the question: Where is it on the Prius? |

Friends: 23 | Open the hood, and right at the level of the top of the grille, you'll see the air intake. I can't remember which side it is. Might be driver's side. I think that's what you're asking. |

Friends: 3 | So what you're saying is: when the car gets close to the end of its warranty, we should all start looking for puddles? |

Friends: 0 | I believe there's a zip tube that goes from the engine to the passenger side fender; looks to intake air from above the top of the tire/behind the headlight. |

Friends: 0 | ..... and If you get that under water, you'll have more to worry about than the engine as your battery will probably be submerged as well! Mike <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Pinto Girl @ Nov 6 2006, 08:49 PM) </div> Quote:
