Where's the engine air intake?

In the "Car Talk" column in this morning's newspaper, a woman complained that her Passat suffered terminal engine damage when she drove through a puddle that was deeper than she thought. Apparently, the air intake for the engine is on the underside of the car; ingesting water will destroy an engine. Tom and Ray confirmed that this is the case and that many other cars with severe aerodynamic styling have their engine air intakes on their undersides because there is no room on top without disrupting the slipstream. They suggested that we all find out where the intakes are on our cars and certainly avoid puddles.

So, anyone know where the Prius engine air intake is?
