Depending upon how early your '05 is there was a recall to prevent the stalling problem that affected some early 2G Prii...have you had that done?

If you're losing all power including the radio and such it sounds more like you've got a short or some other fault in the electronics. This will require a trip to the dealer....have you done that yet since it "keeps happening"?

Any mods to your car?

The "why does this keep happening to me" seem a little strange.... Maybe you meant "why does bad things keep happening to me". If my car completely died while cruising on the freeway I would take it to a dealer! That is no laughing matter! Please let us know what you dealer finds! It happened to me in my 96 Maxima when my alternator burned up. Scary indeed as I was in the left lane!

As efusco has pointed out there was a problem in 04 and early 05 models with the ICE stalling there has been a recall for this one. Ask your dealer to check if this service has been done. My understanding was that this happened during low speeds as on the free way the ICE will keep spinning (sometimes using no gasoline and powered by the battery).

Lack of detail is a warning sign, not typical of a newbie. The post is suspicious. What follows should be revealing.

Out of curiosity, You wouldn't happen to be the same cvgrappler from these other forums and banned from two of them, would you?

Yea, the treehugger seemed to name him/herself that thinking of it as an insult. What a tool. "No steering or nothing" . . . typical. Maybe that was easier to spell than, 'anything'.

Where are you getting the connection between "treehuger" and this "cvgrappler" from? What makes you think it's the same person?

Oh yeah, good point. I didn't really explain that, did I?

Anytime a first post from a new member looks truly suspicious, we Moderators tend to look "behind the scenes" to get a light background check. Mind you, this is only when we smell a little stink. In this case, I thought I'd do a little sleuthing.

TreeHugger's email address - which I will not disclose in its entirety - is "cvgrappler." A quick Google search provided the rest of the information. I even took into consideration that there might be multiple cvgrapplers in the world except that you will find that one of the links above provides a geographic location of "PA." I thought that was an interesting coincidence.

If TreeHugger is not the same cvgrappler, I am more than happy to try and help the PriusChat collective troubleshoot his Prius issues.
