Question Technical requirements to install Intelligent Parking Assist ( IPA )

Hello,

I want to ask someone advised, which are the technical requirements to install the IPA system on my car? I have an Prius Executive (EU version) with full navigation, voice commands and JBL audio system - I've told you what I have, in order to make an idea/comparison with the model from US.

I need also to procure a rear camera and I'm wondering if Prius >2006 has as standard all the required cabling - the cables between MFD to rear camera (and I've opened a topic Technical requirements to instal ORIGINAL Toyota rear view camera) and which components are needed to install IPA. Probably an ECU for IPA (which is his name?) and a motor on the steering wheel's axle. This has a connection with EPS (Electrical Power Steering) system?

EPS and ECU for IPA are the same things?
Also, if someone knows to respond to the other topics opened by me, I would appreciate!

Andrei

Maybe no one knows? I sure don't. Have you taken a look at the electrical systems? Maybe that'll give you some hints.

I don't know either but in my experience you won't find the wires in the car unless the option was installed at the factory. That's the way with Japanese cars.

I'm not talking about the wires, but I want to know what components needs to be mounted on the car to have IPA on it. My car doesn't come neither with IPA and neither with rear view camera.

I have few questions. I know for start that I'll need:
-rear view camera - I've found it on eBay at some salvage/dismantling parks
-an electrical motor, which to handle the rotation of the steering wheel (does exist already in non-IPA versions, or should be mounted separately?)
-possible an ECU for this. Which ECU or computer calculates the trajectory of the car? I think that the MFD (main unit) doesn't have this functions inside and cannot do this calculations

Does anyone have an idea about what it's required and how it's working this IPA?

Unfortunately my Toyota dealer looked weird and me and they didn't know what to respond to me. Prius doesn't come in Romania neither with navigation, has only JBL audio system..

I think you will need those parking sensors in the bumper. You really need to find a manual with the IPA stuff in it to find out what all it needs. I had a short subsctription to a french version of the TIS site when I was looking for part numbers for the IPA switch. I'll have to dig it up and give you the link. It was like $20 for 24h worth of access. The only issue was that they did not have a billing location for the US so I just put all my stuff down that I could and selected a location over there. They figured it out about two months later and wrote USA on the envolope.

I would appreciate if you can find that link.. Anyway, it's not http://techinfo.toyota.com/ the site you are talking about? There is a subscription there, 15USD for 3 days..

For the billing location to US, try to use www.bongous.com. You'll get an personal shopping assistant and they can forward any parcel wherever in Europe, if you buy from US. They can do even photos when before to forward your parcel. There is a live demo on their site, you can check yourself..

Hope that those informations helped you..

The site was not a toyota.com site I dont think. When I get back home I will try to see if I book marked it. I know I had access to a backdoor for a few weeks on their site but they changed it and I could no longer get to it for free. I will also do some searching to see if I can find that link any sooner.

OFF TOPIC: I recommend you to use Xmarks add-on if you use Firefox. You can have your Bookmarks wherever you'll go, and the synchronization is made manually or automatically, depends by your decision.

This allows me to be more portable whenever I not use my home computer. The site is Xmarks | Bookmark-Powered Web Discovery, you can administrate your account online with drag&drop options.

I'll wait for your links..
