Default anyway to reset airbag control module SDM DIY

recently I changed my airbags (roof and chair)
the airbag light is on and disconnecting the battery and the OBD II does not turn it off

so I found out the SDM has to be reset or according to dealer changed.

well I found some websites and ebay that offer to reset it for 60$ or so

Is there anyway i can do it my self?

I have an ELM237 scantool just incase.

I would appreciate all the good answers!

I am assuming you replaced airbags because they blew. If that is the case then yes, you will have to send it out. I have had rare cases, mostly Fords, that a factory scantool can clear it, but usually once it has made the decision to deploy, that is it until one of the companies that resets them does it. Even then it is a crapshoot. The things that fail on them and cant be fixed are the accelerometers if built in, and the extreme heat that burns chips and melts solder from blowing the airbags. I will say the place that used to do the airbag modules for the last shop i worked at were fixing every 2 out of 3!

If there is anyone here that works for a company that resets them, I'd love to know how you do it too!

thanks for the info
I just bought one and will send mine in for refund for the net total of 55$ + my postage.

Its funny how people working in the dealer ship dont know this info.
or probably they do but not allowed to send their business out...
wonder what the dealers do with the blown control modules?!
