Friends: 0 | I just bought a pre-owned certified 2007 prius. The sales guy said that if the fob has a dead battery and won't start the car you can hold it / move it around near the dash left of the ON button and it will charge it enough to start the car. I can not find this info anywhere else.. Is this BS like most everything else they told me.. ??? |

Friends: 37 | Yep, utter BS. The battery is a CR2032 cell that has to be replaced around every 2-4 years. Last edited by efusco; 09-23-2009 at 05:13 AM. |

Friends: 0 | Thought so.. everything came together when I wanted them to throw in free oil changes and they said they would only charge me $710 out of the $1500 cost of 4 years worth ..I declined.. At time of signing they offered me the oil changes for the standard price of.... $710 Extended warranty was $2500.. then somehow went down to $1800 when I declined.. I still declined.. Wanted to charge $670 for an alarm.. where they would probably only added the glass breakage detector... Now I'm trying to find out if I have a Touring model like they advertised.. |

Friends: 33 | With anything earlier than a Gen III you can start the car if the fob battery is flat by putting the fob in the dash slot like you would if you didn't have smart key. You can use the mechanical key to unlock the driver's door. Then like Evan said, you can replace the battery with a CR2032. Touring has 16 inch wheels, a longer rear spoiler and different rear shocks. The shocks are colour coded, you can search for touring shocks on PriusChat and I'm sure you will find the thread about the codes. I think there is a difference in the VIN too. |

I saw that it said there are other options for cars outside the factory warranty....so I'm checking into that.. also... California has a lot of wierd rules . like the warranties have to be treated as an insurance policy and therefore have value during the life and can be cancelled and refunded on a pro-rated basis.. so I wonder if I own some sort of value on the 7 year /100,000 power train that I can cancel and get some money back...?? | |

Friends: 44 | The "crucial hybrid components" are already covered by the factory warranty so you may want to look into that coverage before you decide that you need more. If you have the certified pre-owned warranty of 7 yrs/100K miles plus the factory warranty on hybrid components, then you've probably got the coverage that you could reasonably need. |
