I got a set for my Prius two weeks ago and have been very happy with them! The shipping was lightning fast and I didn't really notice any offensive odors. They've done a great job of dampening rattles -- especially from underneath the "bridge" where I stash my house keys while I'm driving.

The lack of a good sound deadening material in the golve boxes was kind of a let down for my new 2010. What I did to solve this problem was to go to our local Target store and buy some soft rubbery shelf liner found in the kitchen section. The cost was around three bucks and it works great. Making a pattern was easy and what I like about the material is that it does not slip, even with nothing to hold it down. Enclosed is a photo of it.
