Default Tinted tail lights, now complete with pics.

I was going to order the film and do it myself, but found a shop to do the job for me for only $80 and a warranty for 3/36. It definitely looks better than the stock bright lights on the darker car color. I tried to take the best pics I could, with and without a flash. Anyways, the light output is not as bad as I thought, since there is so much chrome in the housing, it really works well I think.

I see you blanked out the license plate which is smart, but if they really want to find you, they'll check the clearly visible number on your trash can. Might want to cover that.

Nice work, though.

I was potentially interested in doing something similar and installed a test tint piece on the rear side (silver) reflector. Only had enough film for one rear side lens. Looked good, but decided not to go forward and order film for the other side or both "rear" lenses.

Definitely concerned about diffusing light transmission, especially the tail and brake lights. Have to believe many states have laws against tinting rear lights - did not want to risk a ticket, or worse - getting rear-ended.

I do agree that the bright silver contrasts too highly esp with darker color Prius', but something to live with I'd guess.

If *WE* are really worries about *them* finding out where we live and giving us a ticket, I sincerely hope Mel Gibson steps in with an appropriate action film to counter it.

That said, I'd black it out just to stop any wackos in this great wonderful Internet world...

Maybe I misunderstand the "they" - who are *you* worried about

There are a great many new series on Si-Fi...

BTW - They probably already know your IP address, hence your location, and are watching - waiting...

I think it looks great.

Just curious... When you get rear ended because no one can see your brake lights, do you plan on suing the person who hit you? Or when the mom with 4 kids hits you and all the kids die will you be liable?

Again looks great! I just refuse to do anything that will make the car so much more dangerous.

If someone is that determined, then they need a life. I blanked out the plate because in Washington you can call up a HOV number and say someone was not a hov and in the lane.

Just curious, do you have anything of intelligence to add or are you just a jerk? What about the people who drive vehicles covered in dirt and have low light coming out, how about those classic car guys that do not have a center brake light and their tail lights are dim? You going to bust their balls too?

I personally would install a DVD-R in the car. We (look through the mod/audio threads), have detailed the ease (relative), of installing after market cameras. I think this is a perfect opportunity to find *them* and identify *them*. If *they* run into you, we will have the proof! In addition, adding a DVR (with an Inverter - again see thread), is relatively inexpensive. Thank our wonderful 21st century for all that we have... Think of the $$ involved in exposing aliens - running into a Prius with tinted back lights!!!!

I'm guessing we are worried about the aliens who can't see spacial objects, and who have some kind of strange visual cortex that sees the tint, and blocks the pervasive light from behind.

This brings up another point - many are color blind to brown - what color is your tint? I think we don't really need to worry about those with monochromatic sight - as they are possibly more used to differentiating by light intensity.

Color blind people who can only see brown with a brown tint, could be confused (depending on your tint) - so be careful...

Being exposed to aliens, you may be taken by the government - and get a subsidized living working for a secret (all-be-it friendly) entity.

Now kibitz...

OABTW - Can you kindly explain how to take the **** lights off the car - I was going to do this, and couldn't figure out how they come off. There are two 10mm Bolts - but then??????????

I'm looking for my government cheese Preferably an extra sharp aged cheddar...
