Default To Nav or not NAv, that is the question.

I, there are 2 level III's coming to my local dealer, one with and one without NAv.

Is it really worth the extra $$ for the Nav and backup camera? I've heard that the Nav system isn't that great, and is cumbersome.

I haven't had Nav in a car before, think it would be cool, but I can buy a portable unit for wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy less.

My question is, and I know it's up to me, but is the DVD-based Nav system really worth it?

BTW, if it's "no, it's not worth it," I need to put a deposit on one today.

THANKS!

Search the gen III main forum. There are tons of + and - comments on the nav, much more than you will get by starting a new thread.

The back up camera is a very good safety feature.

The main advantage of the built in navigation system is that it's built in. BTW I'm getting one as part of the ATP package.

My Gen2 Prius did not have nav but my friends Hybrid Camry has it and I drive that quite a bit. I don't like the Toyota nav in his Camry near as well as I do my Garmin NUVI 760. But with the Garmin when I stop and want to leave the car for a while I usually put it out of sight some where, a PITA I think. I don't so much want to protect the Garmin, insurance would cover theft, as I do to prevent someone from breaking into the car to get it.
