The memo states the first change is still at 5000 miles and then 10,000 mile intervals thereafter.

Oil Changes:
Quite honestly though I don't care if I were a millionaire the most I would pay for these oil changes would be $50. An oil change is about the simplest thing to do on a vehicle and you almost have to try in order to screw it up. Do you guys realize that you can buy 0w20 oil for approximately $30 for 5 quarts (more then you need) and the Toyota Filter is under $5

Tire rotations:
Although a tire rotations may help your tires last arguably a bit longer think about this for a second. They recommend tire rotations for two reasons 1. that way they can deny tire wear warranties, 2. they get you in the door so they can sell you into other items. Business these days is all about the upsell.
Just say your tire rotation is at $25
at 5000 miles $25
10,000 miles $50
15,000 miles $75
20,000 miles $100 <-- could have bought a new tire
25,000 miles $125
30,000 miles $150
35,000 miles $175
40,000 miles $200 <-- could have bought a second new tire
Even with rotations good luck getting the OEM tires much past 30,000 miles.

If you don't like servicing your vehicle yourself maybe you can find a mechanicical friend or highschool kid to do the work and just buy the products for him and pay him a few bucks on the side.

Yikes, reminds me of the time my daughter let her boyfriend change her oil because he was going to save her $10. By the time she told me, he had cross threaded the oil filter,,,, it leaked and he thought it was the drain plug. Which he then over tightened and stripped the threads in the oil pan. Probably better off going to WalMart.

Stupid can be very expensive.

I believe the information was that after the initial service the intervals would then be 10,000 miles.

I am one of the lucky ones. My Connecticut Toyota Dealer gave me a certificate for a FREE 5k servicing. They may make up for it for the rest of them, but at least the first one is cheap.

The Lewiston, ID dealer, Roger's Motors, also gave me a certificate for a free 5k service. Their 'bill' showed $81 and I don't believe that it included a tire rotation. So I suspect the value was $100!

I figure, with tax (6% here), it would be close to $90.00. I'm a long way from needing my 1st service, but if bulk oil brings the price down a bit and IF (and it's a BIG "if") the change to 10,000 miles goes through, then it will reduce the cost significantly.

I'll still get an early oil change done regardless of whether the 10,000 mile change happens because of the initial break-in period.
I just received a letter and coupon for my first oil change for free. The dealer said to bring it in at 5,000 miles or 4 months.
I brought my son's Rav4 to his Toyota dealer and they also gave him a free oil change but wanted $45.00+ tax to rotate the tires. That was an outrageous price in my opinion.

You might be better off going to a reputable mechanic, or anyone else, rather than WalMart. My father, who always changes his oil himself, went for the first time last winter to have his oil changed at the local WalMart because it was so cold outside. He went again 5000 miles later to have the oil changed a second time. When he changed his oil this summer himself, he found the oil filter that he himself had last put on (Toyota brand, so it's not possible that WalMart used the same brand he did). I can't say for sure that the oil wasn't changed the two times he paid for it at WalMart, but the filter certainly wasn't, which raises the question about whether or not anything was done.

Paid 68 dollars in Ottawa Illinois at Bill Walsh Toyota. Got a 10 percent discount for booking appointment online and a free car wash.

My wife paid $98. $101 after taxes.

This seems insane (though expected). Don't tell me to do my own oil because I won't for several reasons.

What is everyone else paying for the entire 5,000 service from Toyota...or even better from a local garage??

If you're the type that really cares about your paint job, watch out for those "free car washes". More often then not, car washers will use the same rags over and over, and the embedded debris will put swirling scratches all over your car. They won't show up as obvious scratches, but you can definitely see them at certain angles.
