Friends: 0 | I called around Los Angeles area dealerships and got the following results: Santa Monica: Finance Manager says $169, Service dept. says $110 Glendale: $79 with regular oil Culver City: $83 Downtown LA: $100 I think I'm going to check out Culver City in person and get them to put their prices in writing because the Finance Manager there quoted me almost double what Service Manager said. It's hard to know who to believe... making it difficult to decide whether a prepaid maintenance plan makes more sense. |

Friends: 0 | This has to be some kind of sick joke, right? Aren't people buying the Prius to save some money? It seems as if it's going to be a very expensive vehicle if oil changes cost double or even triple what they cost in non-hybrid vehicles. That's starting to make up for the savings in gas. Like others, I don't want to hear the "DIY" suggestion, it's just not realistic. What's stopping everyone from going to non-Toyota oil places? Wouldn't they cost a lot less? It just seems like this is a scheme by Toyota to get buyers returning to the dealerships for service that uses Toyota parts rather than lose that money to outside businesses. |

Friends: 0 | I bought my Prius at Jones in Bel Air. Free oil changes for life. Free car washes for life. Engine warranty for life. Jiffy-lube type checking service free. Rotate tires $19.99. I wonder if they know about the 10K interval. In a few weeks I'll be at 10K so I'll ask when I schedule the change. I also plan not to rotate between oil changes if it is indeed 10K (I drive about 4,000 per month I think, so lots of changes). Rich N. |

Friends: 0 | Since I bought my Prius out of state, going back to my dealer is not a convenient option. I went to Schaumburg Toyota for the 5K service. I confirmed in advance that they had 0W20 synthetic oil. The price was $85 including $27 for tire rotation. Good service, but a lot to pay every 5K miles. I will probably check out prices at the local lube shop for the next one. Here's hoping the recommended interval gets changed to 10K. |
