Be aware that your MPG display is probably not giving you a true reading.
For many owners of the 2010 Prius from this site have observed over and over again after many thousand miles, like in my case now with over 7,000 miles. The MPG dash display is usually off by 2-3 MPG, over estimating.
For instance my last vacation trip MPG display read, "52.0" MPG.
True MPG, by gallons used and miles driven, was 48.8 MPG.

i would be pretty happy if my display was 2-3 mpg off...i think you will find the difference to be more like 5-6
