I think it looks good with the gold colour, it matches the tinted windows. It would've looked bad if it was white or something, but the black works.

Final decision rests with you, but I'd mention it to the dealer and use their apologetic goodwill towards your next service check up or accessory purchase.

I've always thought that the black vinyl bumper protector both looked better and protected much better than the not-so-clear applique -- and it's cheaper to boot.

But if it's not what you want ....

Absolutely, if its not what you want and it bothers you, you should take it back and have them correct it. You paid over $30,000 for the vehicle, and it should be as you specified.

However, should I succeed in getting the wife to relinquish her '04 for a 2010...I'll be getting that bumper protector thanks to your pictures.

Given my skill at abusing bumpers, I would want the sturdiest bumper protector available. Short of some nice diamond plate, that looks like it will do the job.

My wife made the same comment about it matching the tinted windows. It's growing on me, mostly cuz I don't want to be bothered fixing it. I have doubts they could really get it off cleanly anyway. Also, it's a legitimate point that the big embossed PRIUS on the applique might be regarded by some as being a bit cheesy and unnecessary.

Oh and thanks everyone for commenting. I was just sort of on the fence and looking for feedback on how other people thought this looked.

I think this thick rubber protector is most durable than the 3M film appliqué and it cost more. You got a bargain if you only pay for the appliqué.

The applique isn't embossed, more just "etched" and really has to be seen at an angle to make out the wording at all.

I think it looks just fine. It really depends on what you want, and how you plan to use the car. Myself, I would always try to avoid resting anything on the rear bumper without a protector like yours. I see the transparent one as a precautionary measure to avoid damage when someone inadvertently rubs or rests something on top of the bumper. Regardless, just like others have already said, if you decide it isn't what you want, then they need to make it right with you. Don't compromise, get it the way you want it!

It's easily done if they know what they're doing (I know that's a big IF for the dealer). Body shop people do it all the time.

I'm afraid I don't like the black -- but if you are getting used to it, then it's probably easier to keep it.
