Friends: 0 | My rear view mirror switch used to adjust the side view mirrors does NOT illuminate at night with the headlights on. When making rear view mirror adjustments while driving I have to grope to find the switch since there is no illumination. Very cumbersome. Should the switch illuminate with the headlights on? |

Friends: 5 | I won't have my Prius for another week or two, but I think I read on here that it is not supposed to illuminate. (kinda lame) |

Friends: 0 | According to the manual... you're not supposed to adjust the mirrors while driving. Why would they make it easier to defy their recommendation? Page 97 "While driving... Do not adjust the mirrors" It's in one of those fancy pink sections! |

Friends: 23 | None of the Toyota vehicles that I know of have illuminated mirror switches, unfortunately. |

While I think it was a bit dumb myself, as I often try to adjust the mirrors a little bit while driving, especially at night, when I angle the mirrors a bit lower, so I am not blinded. Now, since they chose to not have it light up, this means that I end up fumbling in the dark, hoping to find the switch, so I am not blinded by others behind me. Not a very safe feature? What I find stupider is the fact that when I 'lock' the passenger and rear windows, even I cannot move those. In my opinion, that switch should only disable the remote window switches, not the one in the driver door. Many of you with kids know that sometimes they do not listen to their parents, and if I unlock it for a second, to roll up a window on one door, a crafty kid can open the other one. (luckily my kids are past that stage). Still, that lock switch should not lock out the driver too.

On my Gen I I put and little LED kit Coastal Dave sold to light up the mirror adjustment switch. Give him time he'll have one.
