Friends: 0 | I disagree. If there is an aspect of the car to which you are not comfortable with, you should let Toyota know. Also, I believe that this is actually how the regenerative brakes respond while going over a bump (by giving up). No? |

As for your question about regenerative brakes, going over a bump induces a loss of traction. Loss of traction forces ABS braking. ABS only works with the friction brakes, so the braking system transitions out of regeneration. Tom | |

Friends: 0 | As I have a stated in other similiar threads, debating the issue, trying to explain the WHY, or questioning how one is driving does not solve the problem--and it IS a problem. The bottom line is that if the car is not stopping when it should (which it is not), the safety of passengers and pedestrians is in jeopardy. I have written certified letters to Customer Experience and the President of Toyota and have spoken to Technical Field Specialists and customer service reps and Toyota Executive Analysts. They all acknowledge that the braking issue occurs, but state that the car is operating "as designed." For me, this was unnacceptable, so my next step was to submit a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. About 50% of the current NHTSA reports on the 2010 Prius are in regards to this issue. |

Friends: 0 | I agree with RobertMBecker! This is a problem. It is scary! It feels like the car jerks forward. Once, it jerked forward twice. It has ALWAYS occurred on smooth road, no bumps-grids-groves. We are really lucky no one was in front of us. So saying that that's just the way it is and deal with it is not good enough. |
