Friends: 2 | I love the bottom of the car. It's pretty amazing ...... That front part under the leading edge of the front air splitter -- it's so easy to scrape! Glad it's easily replaceable. My last car was a 2001 Mazda Protege MP3, which had a 1" drop over the stock car and I never scraped it. One year in and I've already scraped this plastic part a couple of times ..... one time on a driveway I just pulled straight into. (To turn around.) It even scraped as I slowly backed out. Anyway, thanks for the pics. :-) Oh, and on a recent trip of mine I managed 47.8mpg overall (over about 600 miles) and for most of that I was driving like a bat out of hell ... A/C on ... many instances of passing cars at 95mph ... up and down the grapevine (Twice) and up to about 7000ft altitude in Sequoia National Forest. (In B and PWR mode.) I was not trying to conserve fuel. At one point I fueled up and then did a long stretch of 55mph in a caravan of cars on a flat two lane highway. Cruise and A/C on and the SGII was reporting about 66mpg average for about 40 miles..... then I hit Bakersfiend and hopped onto the 5, sped up to 75 for the rest of the drive back to LA. Even did 70+ mph up the grapevine which the Gen III had no trouble doing. I have done the same drive in other rental cars before and I once got 37mpg in a Corolla rental. But I was actually driving much more conservatively in the Corolla and wasn't passing anyone. Other cars like the current model Ford Focus: 31mph .. Kia Spectra : low 30's. Pontiac Vibe (previous generation) about 31. Just love the car! |

Friends: 0 | The owners manual has pics showing where you can place a floorjack, (pg 435 for a 2011) basically there are two "cone shaped" projections one in front, one in back between the wheels where you can slide a hydrologic floor jack, then I would recommend a good set of Jack Stands!! Kind of hard to spot them on the photo, but the front Jack Point is in the little round circle right in front of the oil filter access panel, and the rear one is right behind the rear "axle", not quite centered, looks like a silver piece of metal with a couple of holes in it. I have only jacked up the rear end on mine, and I put the jack stands under the rear axle. Last edited by edjnsd63; 09-25-2011 at 11:21 PM. |

Friends: 0 | I've just purchased a 2010, built November 09, ex municipal car, spent a lot of time on unsealed roads and those two central panels have accumulated a large amount of gravel, so much so I'll have to remove them to clean out the stones so keep this in mind if you do many gravel road miles (or kilometres) |
