It's done with the same design philosophy as the MPG screen.

its not on the NAV setup, its in the "clock" setup screen. to be honest with ya, i am at a loss as to what its function is. it does not change time anywhere. NAV runs on GMT, at least i think it should. the requirement of very accurate time measurement between the 24 ors os different entities pretty much requires that they all sync with a single time source. so time zones, DST, etc.... why bother??

The Nav system uses the clock information to calculate and display ETA information. When a route is selected, the Nav screen can display your estimated time of arrival. For that it needs time information relating to the destination.

Don't mean to be sarcastic - but did you check your owners manual? And surely your Prius dash clock did not change from DST by itself?

but saw your post before hitting 'submit'. I mean is it quicker to open a thread to ask a simple question as this instead of checking the owners manual. In some areas the manual can be confusing but clock/time changes...
I was just wondering why it would matter if someone checked his or her manual before they posted a message. I mean, isn't the purpose of this forum to encourage community and communication among Prius owners? You obviously took the time to respond to the message...couldn't you just as easily responded with the information requested?

Actuaaly, I was surprised that with the Nav packages that Toyota doesn't automatically change the time the same way cellphones do. This would not only include DST, but also when you're crossing time zones.

Sometimes the oldtimers on the board tire of answering the same questions over and over. No one makes us do it, so we shouldn't complain, but once in awhile a testy remark escapes our keyboards.
