Friends: 1 | I received electronic notification today about the ABS Actuator ECU Update for 2010 Prius. I emailed the dealership tonight to schedule the update. I have been so pleased with 50+ mpg but am concerned that the update will negatively impact gas mileage. Does anyone have any info relating to the fix and fuel efficiency? |

Friends: 0 | No Change in MPG, you will still get 25 miles per gallon... Seriously, if this is only an ABS ECU software update, you shouldn't see any change in fuel efficiency. ABS only comes into play when you are braking on a slick road where the ABS system detects that your wheels are not turning (or should I say slowing) at the same rate. ABS is typically only activited < 1 % of the time you are braking, Keith |

Friends: 0 | Fixing the bug is more likely to increase mpg, not decrease. The abs was over sensitive going to hydrolyic early. That said I would not expect to notice the change either way. Quote:

Friends: 0 | Suppose the change activates the brakes with less pedal pressure. This would reduce regeneration, slightly reducing fuel economy, shorten brake life, and contribute to global warming (friction from the brakes). |

When it felt the sensation of bad brake feel (reduced braking at transition for those that don't speak euphamism). It felt as if my tire should not be slipping. A later activation (the tire stopping instead of just slowing) would likely be the corrective firmware. Then increased friction braking to match the regenerative would improve brake feel, while actually stopping the car faster. Neither would reduce mpg. As keith said even if it does get more sensitive it would be such a small percentage of the time to not be significant. I'm sure someone will attempt to measure it, and I would bet the deviation would not be statictically significant. Then again when I pass gas I think it smells like flowers. There are those that spread some fud that people were making up the defect. And these people included fud that it would decrease mpg or increase l/km. If you belive these people that it won't make it safer, brake better, then feel free to not get the fix, um, I mean fake software that only hurts your milage. | |

Friends: 4 | Wait, PriusPhile, you threw a tantrum over this whole recall thing, even going so far as threatening to start a class action lawsuit and now you're concerned about the hit to mpg? Fellow forum members, why are you taking this person seriously? |

Friends: 1 | I wanted a fix already and I really didn't want to be sold a car with braking issues (known by Toyota in October when the car was purchased). I did not threaten to call a class action lawsuit. I asked if there was discussion of one. I LOVE my Prius and am saddened that it is sitting in my garage right now. Safety first. |

Friends: 1 | Please do not make personal attacks at me. I am an earnest person. Are you a 2010 Prius owner who has experienced braking issues? If not, stop defending the brand (unless employed by Toyota) and let's keep MOVING FORWARD. I am being quite serious. |
