My dealer had a chart, I am not sure was it Toyota issue or a chart my dealer made for themself. But it said the alarm will takes two hrs of labor, and that is where I got the number from.

I think there is only one version of the VIP. I was talking about a Prius IV vs V. There are special instructions for IV and V and for just V that I assume you can ignore if you have a III. The instructions aren't terrible clear. They refer to things like V5/V4 Add On, RES ECU, GBS ECU, V5 Only and as far as I could find no glossary. I suspect the RES and GBS are part of the V Advanced Package.

RES is Remote Engine Start. V4 is the designation for the RES and V5 is the designation for the security system, GBS. The instructions are indicating procedures when both of these options are installed. If they are both being installed the mounts connect together and the wiring harnesses will daisy chain into the main harness. You would see similar steps in the RES installation instructions. It has nothing to do with Prius model numbers.

Thank you. Knowing that during the install would have been helpful.

Today I went to Sterling Mccall Toyota in Houston to ask how much will they charge me to activate the alarm. They said they don't just charge to activate it. They will charge the whole installation fee for two hrs of work, even if I install it myself. They are trying to charge me $200 something for 5 mins of work? What kind of dealership is that? Anyone from Houston, if you read this and trying to do some research before getting the car, then don't buy your car from them. They will rip you off soon or later!!!

I just finished the installation of my alarm and it does takes around 1.5 hrs to finish. Going to get my Mongoose cable around Oct 29th and will activate it myself plus getting my customize setting done. Thanks for the instruction PDF files plus all the other information. I will sell the Mongoose MFC cable for $400 once I am done, so if anyone interested to get the cable from me, then let me know by PM.
