We've got an answer from Toyota, seems the "cluster" will have to be replaced! Doesn't give me any peace of mind that this car will not be problematic. We've had it since March and there is a bit less than 4000 miles on the car.
Dealership has been pretty good about it all, they've given us a loaner (a Corolla) to use will our Prius is in for repairs.
We've been told it will take about a week to have the problem fixed. The cluster will also have to be reprogrammed so the mileage will be our best guess.
