Default Here we go, first problem, no display!

My wife has mentioned to me on about three occasions that the (MPH, odometer, gear position) indicator display in our '08 Prius doesn't not always work. The problem does go away but today, she's called and informed me that there is no display.
She's on her way home from work and is going to take the Prius to the dealership. Since the problem is intermittently happening, she has to get it there while the problem exists.
More to follow when I learn the out come of her visit....

Tell her to leave it running while she goes in to talk to them. Since it is intermittent, if she tuns it off, it may be working again and when she brings someone out to look at it.

Good luck!

Good luck!
Thanks. Since I can't "tell" her anything, I did mention to leave the car running when she goes in to speak with the service department.
You are so very right in saying the problem would go away if she shut the car off! No doubt in my mind that's exactly what would happen!
At this hour, I'm sure they will not get to her car today.
She arrived at the dealership a bit after 4 o'clock.

Would be nice if that's all it is! Best part is I don't have to trace wires! (It's under warranty.)

Fortunately, with all the accessories, lights, A/C, etc. turned off, the vehicle will use less than 1 gal every 10 hours to keep the ICE at operating temp, and the HV battery charged. Assuming she has a few gallons in the tank, she can leave it turned "on" until they get a chance to look at it tomorrow.

I assume that she has already verified that she isn't bumping the dimmer dial, and that turning the headlights off doesn't make the display come back?

My money is on the dimmer dial, or a connection associated with it.

It's not a dimmer switch problem.

I'd bet the wife is no dimmer than you. And there's no loose nut behind the wheel either!
