Danger Will Robinson - Illinois Toll Highway pulling a fast one!!!

Hi All,

I had my tollway I-Pass payment returned to me just today. Sent it from the Lisle Postoffice, as I was passing through doing errands.

On the envelope there was a yellow sticker reading:

FORWARD TIME EXP RTN TO SEND
: I-PASS CUSTOMER SVC CENTER
PO BOX 5225
LISLE IL 60532-5225

Apparently, according to a telephone conversation with these people, they have changed the place where you are supposed to pay your I-PASS fees.

I have been sending my check to them at the POB 557 Taylorville address for years now, no problem whatsoever. Now, with no notification, no nothing, just a refused payment, I find out they are changing the payment address.

As failure to pay a toll is a criminal offense in Illinois, this seems to be some sorta entrapment action by the Toll Highway authority against those that pay by check. They have my email address. They have my home address. They make you give them this info when you get a I-Pass. Would it have been too much to ask to send prior anoucnement they are changing the billing address ? Which makes me very suspicious! At least its dreadful incompetence.

What is really gauling about this, is I sent the check to them at the VERY POSTOFFICE, in person, with my feet on the floor of the U.S. Government facility, they get all their payments from apparently at least the northern part of the state now! Yet they sent my letter all the way down to Taylorville (which is like 200 miles away from near Springfield) and then labeled it and sent it back to me. All I can say is Homer Simpson is alive and well and working at the Illinois Toll Highway probably in Springfield, IL !!!

Their address changed a year ago. First Class mail is forwarded for 1 year. After that it is returned to the sender. Sounds like they need to buy new forms.
