I live in St. Paul, MN and this seems to be the closest Prius group to my location. I am looking for a 2006 blue or red Prius with package #4. My dealer says they don't make package #4 for our area (we are considered to be in the Chicago area). Has anyone seen package #4 at any Illinois, WI, or MN dealers?

Packages are no longer identified by numbers. Go to the Toyota website and you'll find the 2006 packaging options.

Actually they are. Look at http://www.toyota.com/prius/options.html, and it shows both. For instance, my GY is a package #1. My dealer preferred to use the letters instead of the numbers, but you need to know the number when searching for information. They do have some limitations on which packages are available where, for reasons I do not know.

But this is kind of getting off-topic. This is the welcome thread.

My 2006 Prius hums along very well. last week I got a whopping 52 mpg traveling between Palos Heights and Darien. I have achieved a little over 6200 miles since March. But the last few days I have noticed a strange problem. When I make a tight turn as if to pull into a parking space, the radio shuts off for a few seconds and then returns. The problem I have does not show up all the time, hence the real problem to get it fixed. Has anyone else had this occur to their car?

Now THAT'S and interesting one.
I am not an electrician nor an auto mechanic. My opinion means nothin'. But it sounds like a faulty connection. I'm wondering if there's something in the hard turning of the steering wheel that pulling a wire loose. Does it happen when turning both directions? Is it Radio, XM, CD, tape, or all of the above?

It has only happened twice so far. I was turing into a parkling space. First I turned left, and the second time I turned right. I had the FM on both times. The service cnter at Orland Toyota said this has occured in other models but not the Prius to their knowledge. Kinda throws you off when the sound blacks out...like all of a sudden you are not in control.

Do me a favor and post this in the General Forum for everyone to take a look at and try to troubleshoot. I'd like to hear what other's say.

Just copy and paste your first post into a new thread.

Brad in Evanston, here.

Just wanted to say howdy to my fellow Chicagoans out there, and particularly other tree-huggin' Evanstonians. Just picked up a gently used '05 with Nav, and only 17,600 on the odo.

I've ordered the DICE ipod adapter, so if anybody who has installed one would like to stop by next weekend and make sure I don't short out my car, feel free to PM me. Take care!

Brad, welcome to PriusChat and the wonderful world of Prius ownership.

If you're in no hurry to install the DICE, I'm sure we can get some help at our next meet-up at Grossinger Toyota.

I'll add a Prius to the MemberMap for you. The MemberMap is part of our website: http://www.chicagopriusgroup.com

I'll just throw a car in there. If you want a more accurate location, PM me via PriusChat or shoot me an email via the website with a better pin-point location. Even better, pull up your Lat/Long using your Navigation system since that's how I place the markers.
