Have a look at the Prius Club of Qld's group page sometime at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Prius_Club_of_Qld and see if there is anything there we can help with. Cheers, John.

It was my reverse camera mod, there are metal clips in the hatch trim and one of them was slowly cutting through the power wire to my reverse camera, creating a short, the car came back from queensland with dim reverse lights indicating a short, found it fixed it all is fine. I have even more respect for my first toyota's toughness. After missing last year's upgrade cycle It really is crunch time come september, What do you guys think? Should I get a new iTech? or wait for the 2009? Reasons for change are financial, paying FBT on the original asking price whilst the car gets alder, also the satnav DVD is REALLY out of date and the new one has leather and mp3 and a place for my iPod Being trying the pulse and glide technique with mixed results anyone else have any experience with that?

By September the US model will be out and you may get a good idea of any changes. Although the Aussie 08 model may not have all those changes it may be worth the wait and see what develops. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Duck Dodgers) </div> Quote:
Just today I found I could not find the sweet spot and the car was either recharging or depleting the battery.

I find it doesn't have much use when in traffic though, I tried it a bit and didn't get any advantage because the up-down movements of the traffic speed weren't a good match for the P&G. Perhaps this is just a shortcoming of my skill, but I don't use it unless I have a clear bit of road in front and behind me. I have found more benefit though, in anticipatory driving. Getting off the throttle long before lights and stop signs and gliding up to them seems to help a lot, as does short bursts of EV mode between closely spaced lights. With suburban driving and no P&G I'm getting bars between 4-5L/100km. The biggest thing I've done to change economy was using EV mode on startup and for rolling out of the suburb. I usually get a red light when I turn onto the main road, so if I can keep it in EV mode and delay the first engine start until after that light, I get a couple of km of free-flowing 60km/hr to dispense with the fuel-guzzling warm-up routine. Doing this gets me a 4.5 to 5.5 bar for the first 5 min.

The next all-new Prius is due April 2009, 2 years from now. I usually change every 2 years, so we got an '06 model in Toyota's runout. If you can find any '06 cars still around (there are a couple still up here in Brissy), dealers will offer at least $1k extra discount on them, so you can get some good deals. Then think about the new model in 2 year's time. BTW, have a look at the Prius Club of Qld site at http://www.priusclubqld.org We cater for all Aussie Prius owners there. Cheers, John.

http://www.soultek.com/clean_energy/hybrid...ius_in_2008.htm It will have some of the styling cues of the hybrid X. I guess what I'm asking is is it worth getting a new prius so late into the model cycle? I asking in terms of depreciation, I've not owned a car long enough for a change of generation any of you? Other thing is there is honestly nothing wrong with my prius. It's a great car that does everything (except navigate too well) is it time to just keep the car for 5 years or so?

Having just sold my '05, depreciation is quite good on Prius in OZ. I have been watching the red book pricing for quite a while, and they are appreciating in value. If you like the car, and the navigation system is the only problem, why not buy the latest nav. DVD from Toyota for it, and fix that problem? Maybe freshen it up with a couple of accessories, too, if you wanted? They are all on our website.... Cheers, John.

Friends: 0 | There are so few on the road here in Sydney that I have trouble recognising them while driving. Mine is a late 2003 model and so it doesn't have quite the futuristic look of the newies but they are still very thin on the ground and I am looking forward to chat with prius savvy members because no-one else seems to understand us. |
