Friends: 0 | Greetings. GEN III was launched in Aug 18 in Malaysia. Manage to make my way to the UMW Toyota showroom and the salesperson was kind enough to go through all the Prius features. And we went for a test drive. Spec is kind a basic version over here. First time driving a hybrid and it was a new and excited experience for me. Price wise is on the high side. RM175,000/-(USD50,000/-,SGD72,000/-) Best part is, book now and it would only arrived April 2010. Considering to book one soon. This forum would be good for me to get to know the GEN III. Anyone interested on a scanned copy of the brochure, I can upload later. Cheers. Jeff |

From Toyota Singapore website, it would be less than SGD100,00/-. So it could be a good buy for Singaporeans! ![]() Gonna spend as much time this weekend to go through this forum. Cheers. Jeff

Not too sure about the COE and roadtax. Any Singaporeans can clarify this? Here are the pictures of the test drive unit earlier.

Friends: 0 | viista, I'm curious about the buttons on the radio, as shown here: UPLOAD: Malaysian GEN III Prius Brochure I'm sure they are self-explanatory to you, but to US readers they're a bit confusing. What are TA, AF, and PTY ? |

TA = Traffic Announcement. Tells the radio to switch channels automatically when another known channel has a traffic report. It can also pause the CD to play the traffic report, then switch back to the CD when the traffic report ends. AF = Alternative Frequency. Tells the radio to try a different frequency for the current station. Useful in nationwide radio networks if going through a patch of interference. PTY = Programme Type. Tells the radio what genre of programme you're interested in, so that once you're out of coverage of the station you were listening to, it can find something similar. AF doesn't work very well on Gen 2 because the radio only has one tuner, so there's a brief interruption occasionally when it's trying to decide whether to switch frequencies. Better radios can sample the alternate frequencies without interrupting playback. I don't know if this has been improved in Gen 3.
