Friends: 0 | If I set my screen view to less than 0.5 miles my screen gets so cluttered with POI icons that I can't read the screen very well. When I go to change POI icons there doesn't seem to be any way to remove them. When I have tried selecting a highlighted POI category I get a message that that category has already been selected. BTW is there a more appropriate place to post this? i tried to search by "POI" and also by "Navigation " without success. M- |

Friends: 10 | I assumed he wanted to remove only some icons, since it's pretty easy to remove them all. Either use the voice command or punch the soft button on the NAV screen. Tom |

Friends: 0 | jazzpsy, If you want to adjust displayed POI's from the map, click [Map View] at the bottom of the map screen, then POI, and you can turn selected ones on or off. To turn them all off, the quickest way is using the voice command, as others have mentioned. Either "Hide All Icons" or "P-O-I Off" will work. |

Friends: 0 | Hi, Geo's method worked doing it manually - one click seemed to get rid of all of them which is what I wanted, which leads me to another problem - with the voice command system. Possibly its my New York/Boson/Maine accent but it just doesn't get it. Is there a way to train it ala voice recognition software? The only command I can get it to recognize (sometimes) is "Home' but then I get a message informing that "Home" is not "registered." What does that mean? Thanks, jazzpsy |

You need to register your Home location. Hit the Menu button on the bezel, then select 'My Places', and then the [Register] button (to the right of the 'Home' label.) You can then use any of the available methods for selecting the location (address, current position, etc.) With the voice commands, I also sometimes have trouble getting it to understand me (maybe it's my Jersey accent.) I've found it's important to clearly say the words, for example, if I want to switch to "short route", I make sure I enunciate the 'T' in short... apparently in normal speaking, I don't do that. I don't think there's any way to 'train' the system, as some VR systems allow you to do. Maybe someday when they get more sophisticated, the system will use the home location to determine if you're from Joisey, Bahston, Lon Giland, etc., and adjust the voice recognition accordingly. | |
