J/K, of course, but in the last three weeks, while keeping an eye open for them, I have seen only 5 Prii on the roads around N. Atlanta (Hall, Gwinnett & Forsyth counties).

How 'bout it? Anyone else from the Atlanta area on PriusChat?

Hi, BigDaddy here. I live up in the Duluth / Alpharetta area. I'm seeing more and more Prii on the roads this year. I tend to see them in cycles.

Around town there are about a 50-50 mix of '05's and '06's.

There are also a few PCers here from ATL area.

Welcome!

I'm in Atlanta, well Decatur, but I have been seeing a ton of Prii (is that the right plural?) on the road. I've only had my Prius for about 6 weeks, but I'm happy to be in the club.

The other day on my way home from work (85N from downtown), I saw 7 Prii including another Magnetic Gray one. It was odd to see that many on a small stretch of road (about 3 miles).

Hey bigdaddy - thanks for the welcome. You're not far from me at all - I live in South Forsyth county, albeit w/ a Suwanee mailing address - Suwanee is just across the river from where I am.

You're right about the cycles - I saw one the day after we test drove. Then none for a week. Then, last Sunday, I saw three, including one I followed on Hwy 20 through Sugar Hill, and a second one I parked right next to when I ate at a restaurant in Chamblee (I was coming back from taking my wife to the airport).

But, it seems to me that they are slower catching on here than other parts of the country. I say that because we had one within days of deciding to buy one. But, our salesperson told us about another one that was coming in the same week as ours that someone was driving down from Madison, WI to buy - that's 900 miles!! He had told her the waiting list in Wisconsin was several months. And, in scanning over the "Orders" thread, it seems others in some other parts of the country are having to wait longer as well.

Oh, BTW, is there a "Prius wave" like there is w/ motorcycles and Jeep Wranglers? If so, I'm used to keeping an eye out for "sibling" vehicles on the road - I also have a Jeep as a "play" vehicle so I could easily adapt my "Jeep wave" to a "Prius wave"...

Don't see many folks doing the wave around here. I tried when I first got my car, folks tended not to wave, so I don't do it anymore. I guess they don't read Prius Chat!

I live in upscale suburban / Soccer Mom / SUV hell, but the Prius count is picking up at least during commute hours. What I've seen is that young 20-somethings are getting them (same folks I see driving VW beetles), and middle-aged male engineer types, and older guys. I live right in between the Norcross and John's Creek Technology Parks, so I do see a lot of the engineer types driving during commute hours.

As for purchasing in Atlanta, I found last summer that the ATL market was wayyy to pricey and arrogant. I worked out a deal in Charlotte and took a Sunday drive up there to get it. Got exactly what I wanted below list. Around here, folks were MSRP+, with the fellows at Mall of Georgia asking, get this, "$4000 over MSRP but if you buy today we'll cut that in half". I fired the whole town and shopped elsewhere. I have seen threads where folks have been please with Cobb County Toyota and Sandy Springs Toyota.

Here's a picture of my car. Wave if you see me! BigDaddy's Prius, kids, and dog

If it helps, I went through the Atlanta area on my big southward
trip last winter ... it was absolutely terrifying.

We're about 3 miles from John's Creek...

I fired off 3 Internet Sales quote requests from Consumer Reports (or was it Edmunds?) to Mall of Georgia Toyota, as well as the dealerships in Sandy Springs & Lithia Springs. The salesperson in Internet Sales at Mall of Georgia was by far the most responsive, and she got us a car in two days. We paid MSRP - but she did tell us that (for some reason) Internet Sales of Prii were at MSRP, but off the lot sales were MSRP + $4000. <_< We had been quoted straight MSRP at two other dealers, so I felt that was fair. Overall, they treated us well.

That's no suprise, especially if you took the Perimeter (I-285). People drive like maniacs on that freeway. I'm glad I live far north of the city & work even farther north...
