I wouldn't be afraid to take it on a highway trip so long as you vary the speed somewhat. When we took delivery on our 2002, it's first trip was from SoCal to Phoenix and back within the same week.

Do not give up yet: after a 2 months' wait I received today the great information from my dealer that "my" Prius is somewhere floating in the Pacific and will arrive in San Francisco on 11/16. Of course I will probably have to add a couple of weeks or more before I will see it which means waiting another 5-6 weeks from today, but I am glad to do so now I know my selected model IV in my colors Barcelona Red/Dark Gray with Solar package is actually on its way. I already have a VIN and will get further info once my dealer receives the official allocation report. Is the wait inconvenient? Oh yes! But in the end I get exactly the car I want, which makes the wait worth it!
