Friends: 0 | Just returned from a 1,100 mile R/T from Miami to Hilton Head Island, SC. Ambient temps were 60's-70's, basically flat terrain. Dry pavement - numerous construction zones. Speed averaged 64-73mph, utilizing cruise control whenever possible. Average MPG fluctuated between 48 - 53, depending upon speed. Lowest fuel price obtained was $3.189 per gallon. Car handled great, was comfortable, good driving w/standard headlamps. Even at 73mph, the only other Prius's I saw (3) were passing me - apparently no "hypermilers" were on the Interstate ! |

Friends: 11 | I'm guessing that the 53 mpg was happening with the 64 mph speed. |

Friends: 3 | Recently I took a trip from Akron, Ohio to Virginia Beach, Virginia about 6 hours into the drive (just over 320 miles) my 4 year old said he had to go pee. So I pulled off the Interstate on Interstate 95 just south of the Beltway in DC and since I was already stopped I decided to just go ahead and fill up even though I think I still had 4 pips. The Prius would only take $15.00 in gas. (i think it was priced @ $2.49 or $2.59 gallon) You can't beat that driving from the Akron / Cleveland OH area to Washington DC for only $15.00.
