Question soon to be an owner of a Prius

We are buying a Prius in the next couple of weeks. Yesterday, we did the test drive and we (my husband and I) fall in love with the car.
Of course, the seller wants to sell all the extras to us, including the extended warranty.
I was reviewing some of the msg from members of this site, and found that we can buy an extended warranty for 50% less of the retail price. The seller mentioned that the extended warranties that some places sell are not valid in the stated of California. Do anyone know if this extended warranty that Troy's offer is valid in California?
Thanks
Yolanda

You should check with the service dept if they will honor the warranty/service plan purchased from Toyota financial. They finance sales person always says that so he can sell the same to you at a higher price and make $ out of commission.

Welcome to the world of Prius owners.

You don't need to be hoodwinked into extra warranty. I have a 2007 I-Tech (Australian top of the line) and I have done 35,000 kms without so much as a lightbulb failing. I have the standard warranty here (100000km or 4 years) and every service has been a 1hour turnaround.

Great car, great fuel efficiency, great flexibility (you should see what you can fit in it with the seats down).

You are really going to enjoy it.

I did have a MFD fail in my 2004 Prius recently however Toyota and the manufacturer of the MFD have designed out the fault on later Prius so it is unlikely there will be a problem. The repair to the MFD cost me $25 and an hour or 2 of my time. So far I am glad I haven't paid out for extended warranty so far.

I asked the dealer if the extended warranty he tried to sell me covered the traction battery and he said it was excluded. I since found out they don't fail either.

For the short answer according to Pat, check my signature.

Congrats! The two weeks between the time that I ordered mine (OK, I was picky, I wanted the color I wanted and the option package I wanted, anything else was really just not an option, but that's a different story) were filled with excitent and impatience that rivals that of a five year old on Christmas morning....

Just remember though, that while the Prius is unlike any car out there, buying one is just like buying any other car; the price really turns on what happens in the Little Room. The car doesn't get any better based on what happens in there, but you wallet can sure get a lot lighter (but not enough to change your mpg's.....)
